Stochastic Oscillator (Slow K)
Slow Stochastic %K is a smoothed version of the Fast %K line. It applies an additional moving average to reduce noise and provide clearer signals. This makes it more reliable for traders who prefer fewer false alarms and a steadier view of momentum.
Values still range from 0 to 100, with readings above 80 suggesting overbought conditions and below 20 suggesting oversold. Because of its smoothing, signals on Slow %K often appear later than Fast %K, but they are generally considered stronger.
For example, if Infosys’s Slow %K dips below 20 and then turns up, traders may treat it as a more reliable sign of recovery compared to the faster %K.
