Originally a proprietary concern, the company transitioned to a Private Limited Company in 1939, then to a Public Limited Company in 1961 under the name Sardesai Brothers Limited, before being renamed GDIL in 1974.
In 2023, GDIL expanded its business scope by incorporating a wholly-owned subsidiary, Sera Code Private Limited, on July 28, 2022, to enter the Information Technology sector. This move marks a strategic diversification from its traditional chemical manufacturing operations, indicating GDIL's intent to innovate and adapt to evolving market demands.
