About VTM Ltd Virudhunagar Textile Mills (VTML), established in 1947 by K T Chettiar, is a prominent textile manufacturer based in Virudhunagar. Specializing in a wide range of grey fabrics, VTML exports 90-93% of its production, despite not being an export-oriented mill. The product range includes cambric, voile, poplin, oxford, satin, and more, manufactured using advanced machinery including 60 air-jet weaving machines and 174 Lakshmi Ruti C looms.
The company has undergone significant modernization to improve competitiveness, most notably replacing 28 Shuttle Looms in 2000-01 at a cost of Rs.855 crores funded internally. VTML plans to further enhance its plant and machinery under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) with an investment of Rs.10 crores. This modernization aims to increase product value and competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. VTML operates a subsidiary, Colour Yarn Ltd, focusing on diversification within the textile sector.
