Vinyl Chemicals (I) Ltd, established in 1986, specializes in the trading of Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM), a key petrochemical used in various industrial applications. Originally manufacturing VAM, the company leveraged technology and engineering expertise from Uhde GmbH, Germany. Initially, it was the first to produce VAM directly from petrochemical ethylene, a process that contributes to products like polyvinyl acetate and ethylene vinyl acetate co-polymers. A significant portion of its production is utilized by Pidilite Industries, known for the Fevicol brand.
The company expanded its production capacity significantly over the years, reaching 24,500 TPA by 2002. However, in the fiscal year 2007-08, the manufacturing unit at Mahad was demerged into Pidilite Industries Ltd. This strategic move marks Vinyl Chemicals as primarily a trading entity within the Parekh Group, focusing on the distribution of VAM and related products.
