Vikram Solar Ltd., established in 2005, is one of India’s largest manufacturers of Solar Photo-Voltaic (PV) modules and a comprehensive solar energy solutions provider. Headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Falta Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Kolkata, and Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, strategically positioned for domestic and international logistics access. It specializes in producing polycrystalline and monocrystalline PV modules, including cutting-edge products like Mono PERC bifacial modules, with wattages ranging from 330Wp to 660Wp and efficiency levels between 17% and 21.47%. Its services span Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M), catering to both domestic and export markets.
Initially focused on domestic and international solar projects, Vikram Solar has steadily grown its production capacity from 12 MW in 2009 to 2,500 MW by 2021, with further plans to upgrade its Falta facility to 3 GW by 2023. Notable installations include a 3 MW grid-connected solar plant under India’s National Solar Mission (2011–12) and Eastern India’s largest single-shed rooftop solar project of 2.15 MW. The company has also executed projects for six airports, including Cochin International Airport, the world’s first fully solarized airport. Vikram Solar boasts a geographically diversified presence within India, supported by a network of 42 distributors.
The firm’s historical milestones demonstrate its innovation capacity, including the commissioning of a floating solar PV plant in 2014 and India's first phase of a solar power plant in Germany in 2009. Presently, Vikram Solar is planning to raise capital through a public issue, comprising Rs. 1,500 Equity Shares via Fresh Issue and 5,000,000 Equity Shares through Offer for Sale, aimed at financing expansion plans and bolstering market presence. It remains a key player in shaping India’s renewable energy sector.
