Velan Hotels Ltd. (VHL), initially a private entity in 1990, became a public limited company by 1992, spearheaded by promoter Shri E.V. Muthukumara Ramalingam and associates. VHL operates in the hospitality sector, managing a chain of hotels and restaurants featuring bars. The company’s flagship project, Hotel Greenfields in South Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, faced delays but began partial operations in 1993 and was fully operational by 1994.
Post-1994, VHL expanded its portfolio by acquiring and renovating the Ritz hotel in Coonoor and launching 'Uthra', a restaurant in North Tirupur. In 2009, the company unveiled 'The Velan Food Park', a premium multi-cuisine restaurant in Coimbatore, followed by additional deluxe rooms at Velan Hotel, Coonoor. VHL further diversified with the launch of The Velan Esplanade Shopping Mall in December 2013, cementing its presence in the hospitality and retail sectors in Tamil Nadu.
