The United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company Ltd. (UNTEA), founded in 1922, is part of the Chamraj group and specializes in producing and marketing various types of tea, including Green, Black, Herbal, Aroma, Flavoured, and Iced Teas. Located in the Nilgiris mountains of Southern India, the company operates four tea estates: Allada Valley, Chamraj, Devabetta, and Korakundah, covering a total area of approximately 1,495 hectares. With an installed capacity of 2,500 tpa, UNTEA produces about 2,000 tpa, sourcing around 75% of its green leaves from its estates.
UNTEA is committed to sustainable practices, incorporating integrated pest-management and experimenting with organic teas since 1994, making it a leader in organic tea production and export. Despite a general decline in Indian tea exports, UNTEA has maintained its momentum by focusing on market development and product enhancement, positioning itself as a key player in the global tea industry.
