Uniroyal Marine Exports Ltd., established in Kerala in 1992, specializes in processing and exporting seafood, focusing on markets in the USA, European Union, and Far East. The company took over 'Mermaid Foods' and started operations in September 1992. By 1993, it expanded its facilities with a public issue to process significant quantities of IQF and Block Frozen sea products. Despite early challenges, including a European Union ban in 1997, Uniroyal upgraded its facilities to meet EU standards and resumed exports, significantly boosting profitability.
The company holds Green Channel status for shrimp exports to the US and adheres to EU HACCP guidelines. It transitioned from a 100% Export Oriented Unit to the Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme, benefiting from the Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme. Uniroyal has its cold storage facility with a 600-ton capacity and continues to invest in technology, evidenced by a significant machinery upgrade in 2014-15.
