Initially founded as a private limited company in June 1986, the company took over Union Flour Mills to expand its wheat flour business. Union Flour Mills began operations in 1965 with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum (tpa), later expanding with an additional unit of 42,000 tpa at Meherpur, Assam. Transitioning to a public limited company in March 1988, it further expanded by establishing a 42,000 tpa roller flour mill using Buhler technology from Switzerland in Gauripur, Assam, which began operations in March 1990. Currently, the company's total installed capacity stands at 114,000 tpa.
The company plans to modernize its Silchar and Gauripur mills and introduce poly pouch packaging for its products under the Harvest brand. A public issue was launched in January 1996 to partially fund these projects and cover working capital needs. The strategic move aims to enhance product marketing through multi-layered poly pouches, positioning the company for growth in the flour industry.
