Terai Tea Company Limited, founded in 1973 and publicly listed in 1994, is the flagship entity of the Terai Group of Companies. Under the leadership of Dr. Ajit Kumar Agarwala, the company has expanded from a single tea estate to owning seven tea gardens and five factories in North Bengal, with an annual production capacity of 15 million kgs of tea. Terai Tea is known for its popular brands, such as Terai King and Terai Queen, especially in Russia. The company also markets its "My Cup" brand domestically.
With interests beyond tea production, Terai Tea is involved in garment export, food processing, real estate, and steel industries, boasting a turnover exceeding Rs. 200 crores. The company signed a significant MoU with Sovincom of Moscow in 1995 for tea exports and has increased its production capacity over the years. Terai Tea continues to grow as a multidimensional conglomerate, maintaining a leadership position in tea manufacturing and processing.
