About TECIL Chemical & Hydro Power Ltd Tecil Chemicals & Hydro Power (TCPL), established in 1945, is a manufacturing company specializing in calcium carbide, acetylene black, ferro silicon, and desulphurisation compounds. These products serve crucial roles in industries such as PVC manufacturing, battery production, and steel refining. To bolster its operations, TCPL diversified into power generation, establishing two hydel power projects aimed at securing a stable power supply for its energy-intensive manufacturing processes.
The company benefits from having upgraded its calcium carbide and ferro silicon plants under the guidance of Elkem Metallurgy, Norway, enhancing its competitive edge. The Ullunkar Power Project was completed in 1999, yet there was stalled progress in other projects like the Ullynkal and Karikkayyam Power Projects as of 2001-02. With plans to raise Rs. 900 lacs via Preference Shares, TCPL is positioning itself to strengthen its market presence by ensuring a reliable power supply and upgrading its production capabilities.
