About Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) is a major Indian company engaged in the production and marketing of paper, paperboard, cement, and power. Established in 1979, TNPL is known as the largest producer of paper using bagasse, an agricultural residue, in India. The company operates paper and paperboard plants in Tamil Nadu with capacities of 400,000 and 200,000 tons per annum respectively. Additionally, it runs a cement plant producing 900 tons per day using mill waste and a power generation capacity of 169.12 MW, primarily for self-consumption.
TNPL has expanded its operations to include international markets, exporting to 30 countries. It has integrated sustainable practices by utilizing bio-methanation for energy conservation and reducing water consumption significantly. TNPL has also focused on environmental management with initiatives such as rainwater harvesting and plantation programs to support raw material supply. The company continues to invest in technology and infrastructure, as evidenced by its recent Mill Expansion Plan to boost production capacity and enhance efficiency.
