Tahmar Enterprises Ltd, formerly Sarda Papers Limited, was established in 1991 and began operations the same year. Initially involved in the processing and manufacturing of coated paper, the company transitioned to the distillery business. In 1993, it raised funds through a public issue to establish a manufacturing facility for various coated papers in Nashik, with an initial capacity of 6000 tons per annum. This facility produced art paper, chromo paper, and art cards, among others, which are used in calendars, catalogs, and magazines.
The company imported advanced machinery from Spain and set up an in-house chemical plant to lower production costs. Tahmar Enterprises marketed its premium coated paper product under the brand name Platinum, which gained popularity in the printing industry. By 1995-96, an additional production line increased the total capacity to 9000 metric tons, enhancing its production capabilities in the coated/laminated paper sector.
