Soma Textiles & Industries Ltd., established in 1940, is engaged in the trading of cotton, producing cotton yarn and fabrics, as well as blended and man-made fabrics. The company pioneered the manufacture of Indigo Denim in 1986 and initiated significant modernizations, including a 100% export-oriented spinning unit in 1994. In response to industry challenges and competition, it diversified its product line in 2004 to include woolen and knitted fabrics.
The company has expanded its facilities over the years, including a major expansion of its denim processing capacity in 2014. Soma Textiles also established a presence in the UAE with Soma Textile FZE, although its stake was later reduced to 40%, changing its status to an associate company. Despite historical challenges like market recession and competition from the unorganized sector, Soma Textiles continues to focus on enhancing production capabilities and diversifying its product offerings.
