Soma Papers & Industries Ltd (SPIL), part of the Parijat Enterprises Group, was established in 1992 to manage the Coating Division of Shree Vindhya Papers. The company specialized in manufacturing coated and specialty papers, including carbonless and fluorescent papers, marketed under the brand name Diamond Cote. Initially, SPIL produced 6,000 tons per annum (tpa) of coated paper, which expanded to 10,000 tpa. The company also diversified into high-value coating products and expanded its operations through its subsidiary, Vercon Industries.
Despite its initial growth and diversification efforts, including setting up a windmill and acquiring paper mills, SPIL ceased manufacturing on August 4, 2004, due to unviability. Currently, SPIL is not active in any business operations, with management seeking opportunities to restart its operations.
