In 1994-95, it received SEBI registration as a Category-I Merchant Banker, and in 1994, it went public to strengthen its capital base and borrowing capacity.
The company has explored various strategic partnerships and ventures, including a 1999 MOU with Soft Electronics Co. to create an IT education and training center. In 2003-04, Som Datt Finance invested in Som Datt Infosoft Pvt. Ltd. to join the National Commodity Stock Exchange (NCDEX). However, in 2019-20, it divested its stake in Som Datt Infosoft, which ceased to be a subsidiary. The company has also shown interest in entering the insurance sector and dealing in derivatives.
