About Smiths & Founders (India) Ltd Smiths & Founders (India) Limited, formerly known as Shimoga Technologies Ltd, specializes in manufacturing and marketing steel forgings, catering to industries such as automotive, agriculture, mining, power transmission, and general engineering. Originally established as Shimoga Forge, the company transitioned from a private to a public limited entity in 1992. With a production facility in Shimoga, Karnataka, the company expanded its capacity from 500 to 1890 tpa by 1997 using hot-forging technology.
In 2000-01, the company diversified into software, developing 'Conch Bank' for cooperative sectors. However, it faced financial difficulties, becoming classified as a Sick company. In 2014, a Rehabilitation Scheme approved by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction led to the merger with Smiths & Founders (India) Limited, marking a new phase in its corporate journey. Major clients include Widia India, BHEL, and Elgi Auto Engineering.
