About SIL Investments Ltd
SIL Investments Ltd, established by Late Shri G. D. Birla in 1934, originally operated as Sutlej Cotton Mills Limited. The company transitioned from textile manufacturing to focus on commercial finance and investments after its textiles division demerged in 2005, subsequently rebranding as SIL Investments Ltd in 2007. The demerger involved transferring its textile businesses, including Rajasthan Textile Mills, Chenab Textile Mills, and Damanganga Fabrics, to Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited.
Before the demerger, SIL had undertaken significant expansions and modernization projects, notably at its Kathua and Bhawanimandi units. It also developed infrastructure like a 3 MW captive power plant at Bhilad. The shift in business model to investment activities marks SIL as a company focused on financial growth and asset management, drawing from its legacy in textiles. This strategic pivot allows SIL to leverage its financial resources and expertise in commercial finance and investments. Founded 1934
