Shree Rama Newsprint Ltd, established in 1994, is a leading private entity in India's newsprint sector, boasting an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes. Located in Gujarat, its facility includes a paper mill and a captive power unit that utilizes recycled paper to produce newsprint and writing/printing paper. The company can supply nearly 20% of India's newsprint demand and adjusts its production capacity to market needs by also producing printing and writing paper.
In 2003, West Coast Paper Mills acquired a 34.25% stake in the company. Shree Rama has expanded its equity base for growth, issuing shares to promoters and ICICI. Key developments include a 23MW power unit in 2006, a technology upgrade in 2007, and the launch of a packaged water bottling plant in 2019. In 2023, the paper division was discontinued, with assets transitioned to focus on the packaged water bottling division.
