About Shree Karthik Papers Ltd

Shree Karthik Papers Limited (SKPL) is a company engaged in the manufacturing of writing and printing paper, established in 1991 in Tamil Nadu, India. Initially set up with a capacity of 8,480 TPA, the company expanded to 13,350 TPA following consultations and financial appraisal by IDBI. SKPL went public in 1994, with its issue oversubscribed by over ten times. Despite early success, the company was declared a sick unit by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) in 1999, leading to a rehabilitation scheme facilitated by IDBI. This scheme, sanctioned in 2007, involved a capital restructuring, including a 50% write-down of paid-up capital and fresh capital infusion by the promoters. SKPL is exploring diversification into newsprint manufacturing as part of its growth strategy.
