Sakthi Sugars Limited (SSL), founded in 1961, is engaged in manufacturing sugar, industrial alcohol, power, and soya products. The company boasts a sugar division with a crushing capacity of 19,000 tons of cane per day and operates co-generation power plants with a total capacity of 92 MW across multiple locations. Its distillery produces rectified spirit, extra neutral alcohol, and ethanol, with a distillation capacity of 150 KLPD and ethanol capacity of over 50 KLPD. SSL also processes 90,000 tons of soybeans annually.
SSL has expanded its operations through acquisitions and technical collaborations, including a foundry business with George Fischer Foundry, Switzerland, and has recently ventured into joint ventures like the one with Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages for a beverage plant. Over the years, SSL has undergone significant restructuring, including the divestment of its foundry division and changes in its subsidiary holdings. Recently, SSL approved the sale of certain sugar and distillery units, reflecting its ongoing strategic restructuring and focus on core operations.
