Saint-Gobain Sekurit India Ltd (SGSIL), originally incorporated in 1973 as Maharashtra Safety Glass Works Private Ltd, is a key player in the automotive glass industry. As a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain Sekurit S. A. France, part of the Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, the company specializes in high-performance solutions, specifically manufacturing laminated and tempered windshields. With a significant stake held by its French parent company, SGSIL operates a modern plant in Pune, India, supplying major automotive manufacturers such as Telco and Ashok Leyland under the Atultuf brand.
SGSIL went public in 1987, and over the years, it has expanded its operations, including setting up a state-of-the-art automotive glass plant in Chennai in 2004 through its affiliate, Saint-Gobain Glass India Ltd. The company has also ventured into vegetable oil solvent extraction and modernized its facilities at Bhosari and Chakan, enhancing production capabilities and operational efficiency.
