Saboo Sodium Chloro Ltd (SSCL), established in 1993, is the largest salt refinery in North India, producing brands such as Surya Iodized Salt, Tota Iodized Salt, and Saboo Iodized Salt, along with various industrial salts. The company was promoted by Girdhar Saboo and is part of a group that includes Abrasive Emery Industries and Saboo Engineering Works. SSCL launched a public issue in March 1995 to finance its manufacturing facilities and commenced commercial production the same year. They secured a significant export order worth Rs 9.20 crore to Bangladesh and successfully introduced consumer salt packs under the brands 'Surya' and 'Saboo'.
In addition to its core salt business, SSCL diversified into the hospitality sector in 2017-18. The company opened 'Samskara Resort' in Jaipur in September 2018. This expansion marks SSCL's strategic move to broaden its business portfolio beyond salt manufacturing.
