Himachal Fibres Limited, established in 1980 in Delhi, specializes in manufacturing cotton textile yarns, including synthetic and dyed yarns. Initially promoted by B K Garodia in collaboration with Himachal Pradesh Mineral and Industrial Development Corporation (HPMIDC), the company became a public entity in 1984, offering significant shares to the public and HPMIDC. In 1994, Himachal Fibres became India's first spinning mill to transition to a 100% Export Oriented Unit, focusing on the production and export of specialty and value-added yarns.
The company expanded its capacity significantly in the mid-1980s by increasing spindle counts and establishing a dyeing plant. By 1995, it was recognized as an Export House by the Government of India, exporting over 75% of its production. However, due to financial difficulties, Himachal Fibres was referred to the Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction in 2000 after its accumulated losses exceeded its net worth.
