Rana Sugars Limited, established in July 1991 and promoted by Punjab Agro Industrial Corporation and Rana Gurjit Singh, operates primarily in the production of white crystal sugar, with significant by-products including molasses and bagasse. These by-products are used in various industries, with molasses serving the alcohol and citric acid markets, and bagasse being utilized in the paper industry and as a fuel source. Located in Punjab, a sugar-deficit area with satisfactory yield per hectare, the company benefits from strategic positioning.
Rana Sugars has also diversified its operations with a Co-generation Power Project, producing 14 MW surplus power since March 2002. The company expanded its distillery operations from producing industrial alcohol/rectified spirit to ethanol, with current capacity at 225 KLPD. Additionally, it increased its power generation capacity to 30 MW and established further production facilities, including a new ethanol plant in Moradabad in 2018-19. This diversification underscores its commitment to adapting to market demands and leveraging its resources efficiently.
