Rajasthan Petro Synthetics Ltd, established in 1983, was a pioneer in introducing polypropylene yarn to India's textile sector. Initially focusing on manufacturing Polypropylene Multi-Filament Yarn (PPMFY), the company expanded its capacity and diversified its offerings through technical collaborations with Swiss and Italian firms. Products manufactured included yarns for industrial applications. Despite early success, the company faced financial difficulties and was declared 'Sick' by the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction in 2001. By 2008-09, secured creditors had taken over and sold its assets.
Post-2008, Rajasthan Petro Synthetics shifted its business focus to office management services and C&F agency operations, leaving behind its manufacturing roots. Additionally, RSPL promoted Poddar Pigments to produce pigment-based polypropylene master batches. Despite its challenges, the company's earlier ventures contributed to foreign exchange earnings and innovations in the textile industry. Its current operations focus on service-oriented sectors, marking a significant transition from its original manufacturing base.
