Punjab Communications Ltd (PCL), established in 1981 by PSEDPCL, initially focused on manufacturing direct-to-line multiplexing equipment and has since diversified into various telecommunications products for clients like DoT, Railways, Defence, and others. Despite a successful public offering in 1994, PCL faced challenges due to the industry's shift from landline to wireless communication. In response, PCL expanded its customer and product base through strategic partnerships with foreign companies like Huawei and ECI Telecom, and focused on core markets such as railways and power sectors.
PCL's product offerings now include advanced line transmission equipment, radio equipment, and switching systems. Recently, they developed a new communication system for railways and are involved in projects with Railtel, which is expanding its optical fiber network extensively. The company is also pursuing opportunities with BSNL for CDMA equipment supply in collaboration with a Chinese partner. PCL remains committed to innovation in optical fiber, electronic switches, and satellite communication equipment to enhance its market position.
