Precot Ltd, formerly known as Precot Meridian Limited, is an Indian company originally established in 1962 in Kerala to produce cotton yarn, beginning with 12,096 spindles. It has expanded significantly since then, now operating in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka with a total capacity of 225,000 spindles and 960 rotors. Precot has diversified and grown its operations through strategic expansions such as setting up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Malaysia and acquiring Suprem Textiles Processing Ltd.
The company has also invested in forward integration projects, like a yarn dyeing unit in Karnataka and a weaving unit for manufacturing yarn-dyed shirting fabrics. Precot has embraced renewable energy by installing wind turbines and solar plants, aiming to reduce energy costs. In recent years, it has consolidated operations by merging several subsidiaries, enhancing its operational efficiency. The company continues to leverage its technical textile plant in Karnataka for further growth.
