Prashant India Ltd, initially established as Prashant Proteins Ltd in 1983, transitioned to a public limited company in 1985. It operates in the textiles and wind power generation sectors. The company revitalized a distressed unit in 1984 and demonstrated resilience during Gujarat's severe drought between 1986 and 1988. In 1994-95, it diversified into manufacturing polyester fabrics and yarns, expanding its operations in Palsana, Surat.
Prashant India has also ventured into renewable energy, commissioning wind generators with a total capacity of 1,000 KW. The company gained recognition as the second-largest exporter of rapeseed deoiled cakes in India, earning an Export Award from the Solvent Extractors Association in 1994-95. Despite its achievements, the company has sought intervention from the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) under the Sick Industrial Companies Act, indicating financial challenges.
