About Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd Ponni Sugars (Erode) Limited, established in December 1996, operates a sugar factory in Erode with a daily crushing capacity of 3,500 tonnes and a power generation capacity of 19 MW. Originating from a demerger of Ponni Sugars and Chemicals Ltd, the company has expanded its operations since its inception, achieving full capacity crushing in its first year. It has played a pioneering role in the local sugar industry by extending the crushing season and implementing innovative irrigation schemes, enhancing both agricultural productivity and local livelihoods.
The company emphasizes eco-friendly operations, diverting bagasse to Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited and installing a multi-fuel boiler for power cogeneration. Ponni Sugars is also progressing in ethanol production, with a 45 KLPD distillery-cum-ethanol plant planned.
