About Petronet LNG Ltd Petronet LNG Limited is a key player in India's energy sector, specializing in LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) import and regasification. The company operates two major LNG terminals: one in Dahej, Gujarat, with a capacity of 17.5 MMTPA, and another in Kochi, Kerala, with a capacity of 5 MMTPA. These facilities contribute significantly to India's gas supply, handling around one-third of the country's LNG imports. Established in 1998 as a joint venture by the Indian government, Petronet LNG is backed by prominent oil and gas corporations such as GAIL, ONGC, IOCL, and BPCL.
Petronet LNG has formed strategic partnerships, including long-term agreements with global entities like RasGas of Qatar and ExxonMobil's Gorgon Project in Australia. The company has also expanded its infrastructure, including a second jetty and increased regasification capabilities at Dahej. It is actively involved in initiatives like LNG road tanker loading and setting up LNG dispenser stations. Despite fluctuations in terminal utilization rates, Petronet continues to play a crucial role in meeting India's growing energy demands, marking milestones in cargo handling and expanding its market presence with ventures in Sri Lanka and beyond.
