Oriental Hotels Limited (OHL), incorporated in 1970 and promoted by the Reddy Group of South India, operates as a part of the Taj Group of Hotels. The company has grown steadily with a strong presence in southern India, primarily in Tamil Nadu, operating seven hotels. Its flagship property, the Taj Coromandel, opened in 1974. OHL has expanded its operations through partnerships and acquisitions, including a technical assistance contract with Indian Hotels Company and agreements to operate resorts in India and Maldives.
Over the years, OHL has focused on upgrading and modernizing its facilities, adding significant features such as the heritage wing and Thai restaurant at Taj Malabar, luxury renovations at Fisherman’s Cove, and new amenities at Taj Coromandel. The company has executed strategic expansions, marked by the opening of Vivanta by Taj hotels in Trivandrum and Coimbatore. In 2018-19, OHL sold The Gateway Hotel in Visakhapatnam, aligning with its portfolio management strategy.
