Initially focused on paper, boards, and cement manufacturing, the company has diversified into electrical consumer durables and industrial equipment. OPIL has manufacturing facilities in Amlai, Brajrajnagar, Faridabad, Noida, and Kolkata. Over the years, the company has expanded its capabilities, including a notable tissue plant established in 1997 and the commissioning of a new tissue paper machine in 2018-19.
The company underwent significant restructuring, with its cement business demerged to Orient Cement Limited in 2012-13 and its electric business to Orient Electric Limited in 2017-18. OPIL has invested in expanding its production capacity and technological capabilities, including a switchgear project and a tissue expansion project.
