About NMDC Steel Ltd NMDC Steel Ltd, under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, was established as a subsidiary of NMDC Ltd on January 2, 2015. It operates a 3.0 MTPA steel plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh. The facility features advanced infrastructure, including a 220KV GIS sub-station operational since March 2018, with a full suite of production capabilities such as Coke Oven Batteries, Sinter Plant, and an Oxygen Plant. Notably, the company started trial production of Hot Rolled Coils in June 2023.
The company underwent a significant transformation with the demerger from NMDC Limited, effective October 13, 2022, which resulted in the transfer of the Nagarnar steel plant's assets. NMDC Steel Ltd's shares were listed on February 20, 2023, marking a critical step in its independent operations. This strategic initiative opens potential growth avenues and aligns NMDC Steel Ltd with the broader objectives of the Indian steel industry.
