Nitta Gelatin India Limited (NGIL), established in 1975, is a joint venture between Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation and Japan's Nitta Gelatin and Mitsubishi Corporation. The company produces ossein, gelatin, and collagen peptides, primarily from animal bones. NGIL began commercial production in 1979 and expanded its capacity in the early 1990s. The company has been recognized for its export achievements and has undergone various expansions, including a 2000-tpa gelatin plant and the acquisition of assets in Aroor Industrial Estate.
NGIL ventured into the retail market in 2011 with products like GELIXER COLLAGENPEP and expanded into pet food and agricultural products. Despite challenges like the mad cow disease affecting its European market, the company has continued to grow, including the merger of its subsidiary, Reva Proteins Limited, in 2019. Recent developments include capacity expansions and the installation of a new Jet Aerator at its Reva Division in 2022.
