NILE Ltd, established in May 1984 in collaboration with Japan's Hakko Sangyo, specializes in the production of Pure Lead primarily for battery consumption. The company has expanded its operations over the years to include the manufacturing of stainless steel glass-lined reactors and has pursued backward integration projects to enhance operational efficiency and profitability. Notably, NILE has ventured into renewable energy, commissioning a 2-MW wind farm in 1995 to lower costs through captive power generation.
The company has also focused on increasing its lead recycling capacity, with significant expansions at its facilities in Tirupati and Choutuppal, achieving a total recycling capacity of 72,000 TPA by 2013. By 2017, the Choutuppal plant's capacity was further increased to 32,000 TPA. NILE has entered into a know-how licensing agreement with an Italian company to diversify its product offerings and has optimized its existing resources by starting the fabrication of pressure vessels. The divestment of its Glass Line Equipment division in 2012 marked a strategic shift in its business focus.
