National Standard (India) Limited, established on August 20, 1962, is primarily engaged in real estate development, having shifted from its original focus on manufacturing bead-wire for tyres and other specialized wires. It formed as a collaboration between National Standard Company, US, and Duncan Brothers & Co., Calcutta. The company has historically been a significant exporter of tyre bead-wire and moulds, with innovations such as hi-tensile tyre bead-wire targeted at overseas markets.
In 2011, National Standard became a direct subsidiary of Anantnath Constructions and Farms Private Limited and a step-down subsidiary of Lodha Developers Limited. It launched significant real estate projects, including Lodha Excellencia and Lodha Supremus. The company, after being classified as a Sick Industrial Company in the early 2000s, is now part of a planned merger with Macrotech Developers Limited, as per a scheme approved in January 2022.
