About National Securities Depository Ltd National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), incorporated in 2012, is a SEBI-registered Market Infrastructure Institution (MII) that plays a critical role in India's financial and securities markets. The company is the largest depository in India, supporting the dematerialization of securities since its inception in November 1996 under the Depositories Act. Through its robust depository framework, NSDL facilitates the holding and transfer of securities in a digital format via 'Demat Accounts,' enabling seamless market participation for various stakeholders, including investors, issuers, and financial intermediaries.
NSDL supports a wide range of security asset classes, including equities, debt instruments, mutual funds, government securities, sovereign gold bonds, electronic gold receipts, and others. It launched digital loan services against securities in 2018, followed by a digital commercial paper issuance process in 2021. Additionally, the company developed a blockchain-based market platform in FY 2022 for monitoring bond issuances and related covenants, showcasing its commitment to technologically advanced solutions in India's financial ecosystem.
NSDL is now proposing an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of 57,260,001 equity shares through an Offer for Sale.
