About Mysore Petro Chemicals Ltd

Mysore Petro Chemicals Ltd (MPCL), established in 1976 by H P Dhanuka, initially focused on manufacturing Phthalic Anhydride (PA) and Maleic Anhydride (MA) at its Raichur, Karnataka, and Taloja, Maharashtra plants. However, economic challenges led to the closure of the Raichur plant in 2013 and the eventual transfer of its MA business to I G Petrochemicals Limited in 2017. Currently, MPCL is engaged in the trading of various petrochemical products, including Orthoxylene, Phthalic Anhydride, Maleic Anhydride, and Benzoic Acid. The company has faced financial difficulties, leading to it being declared a sick unit by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR), with IIBI overseeing its operations. Despite these challenges, MPCL has been involved in significant collaborations and diversifications, such as partnering with Lurgi, Germany, to enhance its manufacturing capabilities. Today, MPCL focuses on trading organic and inorganic chemicals, having shifted away from direct manufacturing.
