MSTC Limited, originally established as Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited in 1964, is a government-owned enterprise based in Kolkata, India. It operates primarily in two domains: e-Commerce and Trading. The e-Commerce division focuses on the disposal and procurement of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, minerals, and agri-products, while facilitating e-auctions for diverse items including coal and tea. The Trading division manages domestic and international trade of industrial raw materials like heavy melting scrap and coking coal, catering to industries like steel, oil, and power.
Initially focused on metal scrap imports as a canalizing agency for the Indian government, MSTC diversified post-1992 into a multi-product corporation. It achieved Mini Ratna status in 2001 and has since expanded its operations, including joint ventures like the Auto Shredding Plant with Mahindra Group. MSTC's public listing in 2019 raised funds for ongoing expansion, and in 2023, it advanced into the recycling sector with a new plant in Greater Noida.
