About MOIL Ltd MOIL Limited, established in 1962, is India's largest producer and seller of manganese ore, specializing in high, medium, and low-grade varieties, as well as manganese dioxide and chemical-grade manganese ore. The company operates seven underground and three opencast mines, all located in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, benefiting from robust infrastructure. MOIL also owns two wind farms with a combined capacity of 20 MW. Initially a government-owned entity, MOIL became publicly traded in 2010 after a successful IPO.
The company has been active in expanding its operations through extensive exploration and development activities, aiming to increase its manganese ore reserves. It has also ventured into green energy, commissioning wind farms, and has previously established joint ventures for ferro alloys production, although these were wound up in 2021-22. Recently, MOIL signed an MoU with Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited to explore manganese ore prospects in Gujarat, demonstrating its ongoing efforts to expand and diversify its mineral exploration and production capabilities.
