Modipon Limited, established in 1965 as a joint venture between the Modi Group and Rohm & Haas, initially focused on manufacturing synthetic yarn. The company expanded into leather, agro, and industrial chemicals following its merger with Indofil Chemicals in 1982. It collaborated with NOY Engineering for advanced nylon and polyester filament yarn technology and expanded its synthetic filament yarn production capacity. The company's Fibres Division was the first in its industry to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2000-01.
In 2006, Modipon transferred its chemicals business to Indofil Organic Industries Limited through a slump sale, distributing IOIL shares to its equity shareholders. It acquired Modipon Estates Pvt. Limited in 2007, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. However, due to significant losses, Modipon ceased manufacturing operations in 2007 and sold its plant and machinery by 2010. The company's focus on synthetic yarn and chemicals marked its initial business endeavors, although it eventually wound down operations.
