Modern Insulators Limited (MIL), established in 1982, is part of the Modern Group and was initially promoted jointly by H S Ranka and the Rajasthan State Industrial Corporation. The company specializes in manufacturing high-tension insulators up to 400 kV, collaborating technically with Siemens, Germany. Despite facing initial technical challenges and financial difficulties, MIL managed to stabilize, resulting in deregistration from the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) in the early '90s.
Significant corporate developments include a 1995 rights issue for capacity expansion and a noteworthy export performance award in 1997-98. In 2017, MIL amalgamated with Modern Terry Towels Limited, involving equity shares redistribution. Additionally, a demerger with Modern Polytex Limited saw MIL's Yarn Division transferred and vested in MPL. MIL has divested from subsidiaries like Motile Power Trade Private Limited and Modern Metal High-Tech Components Private Limited. MIL's core focus remains on manufacturing insulators, with strategic corporate restructuring to streamline operations.
