About Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilisers, a subsidiary of UB Group, was established in 1966 and primarily manufactures fertilizers such as Ammonia, Urea, Di-ammonium Phosphate, and Ammonium bicarbonate, with its main product, Urea, marketed under the 'Mangala' brand. Originally promoted by Duggal Enterprises, International Development & Investment Company, and the Karnataka Government, the company became public in 1967 and was renamed Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCF) in 1991. UB Group took over MCF in 1990 amid financial distress, and the company underwent a series of revivals and expansions, including a significant plant revamp in 2000 and the commissioning of a Specialty Fertilizer facility in 2011. Additionally, the company has diversified into plant protection chemicals and introduced various agricultural products under the Mangala brand. Recent developments include the commissioning of a natural gas pipeline and a significant revamp of the Ammonia plant in 2022, increasing production capacity by 25% and reducing reliance on imports.
