Mac Charles (India) Ltd, established in 1979, initially ventured into the hospitality sector by opening a five-star hotel in collaboration with Holiday Inn in 1986. Despite initial financial struggles, the company diversified its operations over time. Currently, it focuses on electricity generation through wind turbines in Karnataka and the construction and leasing of commercial properties. In 2003-04, Mac Charles divested from Vaswani Properties and Investments. The company expanded its portfolio by acquiring 100% stakes in Nedstar Hotels and subsequently, Blue Lagoon and Neptune Real Estate. In 2022, Mac Charles sold its stake in Airport Golfview Hotels and acquired Embassy Bhivandi Projects, renaming it Mac Charles Hub Projects.
Recently, the company diversified into real estate and property development, completing preliminary work for a new commercial building at the former Le Meridien Hotel site. Despite the expiration of its Holiday Inn collaboration, the company is focused on expanding its real estate footprint and energy production capabilities.
