Krebs Biochemicals & Industries Ltd, established in 1991, specializes in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) using the fermentation process, making it one of the few companies globally with such capability. The company develops biotech processes for medicine, agriculture, and industrial applications and engages in contract manufacturing for major pharmaceutical and multinational companies, aiming to serve global markets. With expertise in chemical synthesis, fermentation, and enzymatic technologies, Krebs has expanded its production capacity from 60 TPA in 1994 to 150 TPA.
The company went public via an IPO in 1994 and launched Vitamin C (IP Grade) using the fermentation process in 2001-02. In 2003-04, Krebs commissioned a 2.5 MW co-generation power plant at its Vizag facility, operational from July 2004.
