John Cockerill India Limited, established in 1986 and formerly known as CMI FPE Limited, specializes in the custom design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation of components for Cold Rolling Mill Complexes and various processing lines for both ferrous and non-ferrous industries globally. The company underwent a name change in June 2020 to reflect its current identity. Originally promoted by T R Mehta, the company expanded its manufacturing capacity through a rights issue in 1995, facilitating the development of multiple factories and design offices across India.
The company has a history of technical collaboration, notably with Durmech Engineering, UK, for paint coating lines. In 2012, John Cockerill India acquired a new plant site in Maharashtra, enhancing its production capabilities. By 2013, the Taloja plant was modernized and became a 'Centre of Excellence for Cold Rolling Mills'. However, in 2016, the company sold its operational assets in Silvassa, including land and buildings.
