Indian Sucrose Limited, initially known as Oswal Sugars Limited, was established as a public limited company on December 12, 1990. The company, originally promoted by Punjab Agro Industries Corporation and Mukerian Papers Ltd., is focused on sugar manufacturing. Its facility, set up in Punjab, began with a capacity of 2,500 TCD and expanded to 12,000 TCD, though currently operates at 9,000 TCD. The project cost rose from an initial estimate of Rs 32.6 crore to Rs 42 crore, factoring in a delay and the inclusion of captive power generation. To finance these expansions, the company issued public shares in 1993 and later, in 1995-96, converted loans from IFCI and ICICI into equity shares. In 2003, it rebranded as Indian Sucrose Limited. The plant also supports power co-generation with a capacity of 40 MW, enhancing its operational efficiency.
