Initially a private entity, it transitioned to a public limited company in December 1994. With a strong emphasis on government projects, particularly with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Gayatri Projects boasts a robust execution track record, completing numerous road, irrigation, and industrial projects across the country.
The company has formed strategic alliances, such as a joint venture with IJM Corporation Berhad, Malaysia, and has engaged in significant BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) projects. Its infrastructure achievements include the construction of Asia's largest canal and a significant role in the Purvanchal Expressway. In 2016, Gayatri launched the Sembcorp Gayatri Power Complex, marking a major foreign investment in India's thermal energy sector. The company also demerged its BOT road portfolio into Gayatri Highways in 2018, enhancing its focus on core construction activities.
