About Eastcoast Steel Ltd Eastcoast Steel Limited, originally founded as Chudiwala Steels Ltd in 1962, was restructured into a public limited company in 1988. Initially promoted by Western Ministeel, the company specialized in producing various steel billets and forging-grade steel with an installed capacity of 1.5 lakh tonnes per annum. These products served the re-rolling industry, crucial for the construction and engineering sectors. The company expanded its capacity through a rights issue in 1992.
However, the company's steel plant operations in Pondicherry ceased in 1995, and it remained inactive until 2021 when it sold part of its steel plant land. Subsequently, Eastcoast Steel re-entered the market by trading iron, steel, and engineering products internationally in 2021-22, marking a strategic pivot from its manufacturing roots to a trading focus in the steel industry.
